Hi All,

To the people that have requested searches for family in Tanfield.
I'm sorry I haven't replied, been indisposed for a few weeks, but now back in front of the keyboard again.

Cheers

Hi Geoff

Sorry I havent been in touch sooner, not been very well.

There is loads of Harrisons far too many to be honest, but there is one particular Harrison Im looking for, and that is the death of Anthony Harrison (my ggrandfather) b1851/1852 in Tanfield, Durham.  I know he was still alive in 1901.  his wife was Mary and they lived in 1901 at 1 oakeys cottages as did most of the Harrisons.  that is all the information I have on Anthony.

Tanya, sent me a site on Ancestory of the index to look through so hopefully I should find him on that, but the past few days just havent felt up to it.

Please dont put yourself out for me, as I dont like really asking people to look for things as I think that is part of the fun.

Best Wishes

Yvonne

Hi there

I have ancestors that lived and were born in Tanfield.  The two families of mine from this area are called WATSON and RICHARDSON. From the Information  I have my Ricardsons were from Chester  le Street, and settled and died in Tanfield.  The Watsons were actually born there. Been reading the other replies and the Richardsons could be linked to  my family.  I have just started looking into the Richardson  family as I have come to a standstill with some of my other family names.  Once I have had a look at the information I have got, then may be able to find a link, My Great x5 Grandmother was Hannah Richardson and she married Joseph Watson.  Hannahs parents were Thomas Richardson and Ann Henderson.

I have a confession to make. Since starting the thread, I have found that the research that identified a Tanfield family in my tree was flawed and unless the original link belongs to a cousin  or my rellie (not impossible given the relative rarity of the name involved) I have no links with Tanfield. I hope others have found it useful nonetheless.

Yours

I have Tanfield connections, the furthest back (so far) is Christopher Bainbridge c1797 in Swinburn Northumberland, he married Mary Forster (born 1791 in Lancester) they had kids in Tanfield in the 1820's, my direct relation being Jane Bainbridge (born 1821, Tanfield) who had an illigitimate son Featherstone Bainbridge in 1838 (father = Feathersotne Hodgson)
