Shedding some light?
« on: Saturday 25 February 06 09:15 GMT (UK) »
Samuel GELSTON- last known address -15 Dayton St, Belfast.

It has been suggested that my great grandfather (Samuel Gelston) died at work from an accident in or around 1898.  Samuel is down as a Labourer on all documents I have of him.
Where would I search to find out if he did die at work?  I don't know where he worked or what kind of work he did.   It has also been suggested that he and his wife Maggie separated, hence no record of his death at the Dublin Office or the GRO in Belfast.

Any suggestions very much appreciated.

Matty.

I would have thought there would have been a death record of him somewhere despite  he and his wife had separated.
Have you thought about the local papers, I am sure if it was an accident at work there would be some mention of it.

Happy hunting

Lousia, thanks for your input.

Where abouts in Belfast are such papers held?

Have to confess I don't know the answer to that one  but I am sure there must be newspaper archives in Ireland somewhere, hopefully another rootschatter will pick this up and help you.
I still think his death should be registered despite his separation.
Hope you find him

Hi Anthony,

I just couldn't remember whereabouts the Library's situated.  Am I right in saying that it's facing the Belfast City Centre on the corner?

Regards, Matty.

P.S. I think you've got more than enough to do at the mo!    I wouldn't expect you to go to the library for me unless you were going for yourself.   Your constant support via RootsChat is just fine!!  ;D
