Hi Barry,
Welcome to rootschat.Oh dear ,not the easiest of surnames to research but im sure you can find out more.
Probably the first step would be to obtain you fathers birth certificate which will tell you his fathers and mothers names and occupations.
You can obtain certificates from the ONS website for £7 if you know the General Records Office reference.
Then you may be able to find Regs father on the 1901 Census and work back from there.
A good site for births, marriages and deaths is FreeBMD but records are sparse after1910.
You could try Ancestry.com which will give you all the Censuses and access to actual records of births marriages and deaths up to the present day. They used to do a free trial or you could buy credits or join up for the year ,I have found them invaluble when researching.
The local records centre for the Leicestershire area is worth investigating too .
If you can find Regs father another post on rootschat will probably bring results.
Hope you can find your descendants,im sure its possible,
Good luck searching
Cathy
