Hold it right there Sharon :D,

Am I outnumbered by women or are there a couple of men somewhere on this list ??? I have a sleeping bag. Will I need to use the floorspace in a different room if there are no other men ??? Don't worry, I am used to sleeping on my own. Lol

Sharon, Where are you in Limerick ??? Near the Shopping Centre with the big carpark which is close to the Hospital - Dura Doyle (is that the right spelling ???)

Nope I'm right in the middle of the city itself (well about a ten minute walk from the city center)
I'm sure no one will mind a strapping man such as yourself protecting us Chris  ;D

Hi Christopher, Anne and all,
I'm a Dub :D born and bred.(feels a bit like coming out of the closet) ;D.
Will do whatever I can to help with a Dublin meet.

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I received a message from Kated -

Hi Christopher,

Sounds like a great idea. Would people want to spend some time at the National Library/archives? I agree that a metting place may prove tricky to find for more than a few people. Any idea?

Kate

The National Library opening hours are shown in this site http://www.nli.ie/new_serv.htm Would you like to think of one or two places where we could meet in Dublin Michelle. Bear in mind this is very early days. This is only the third day the message has been on the board so we have no idea how many will be attending.

All the Best,

Chris

Sharon

Sharon,

I am wondering whether this is a breakaway Meet or a dry run to see how well we work together ??? Is the Limerick Meet going to take place this year ???

Best Wishes, Chris

Hi Chris,

The national archive is a great place, lots of resources there.  If people wanted to check out the parish registers they're at the national library http://www.nli.ie/family_hr.htm.  The Dublin City archives at Pearse St is also a good place to go http://www.dublincity.ie/living_in_the_city/libraries/heritage_and_history/dublin_city_archives/
and is only a few hundred yards away from the GRO in Lombard St
http://www.groireland.ie/faqs.htm. All of these places are in the city centre.
Chris, I don't know how these meets work, do people want to get to places where they can access resources, as in the above places, or is it more of a social gathering, or a mix of both? I find that when I get a chance to get to the places I mentioned the time goes so fast it unbelieveable. (With three children its often difficult to get the time to actually get to these places. So much easier with my English based research, all of which I have done without leaving the house, with much help from Rootschat :D). I could check with the library on Monday and see if they have a meeting room available for groups.

Best wishes,

Michelle

Keep finger crossed, pray or whatever that the 2007 event goes well and the event might become an annual event moving round the capital cities of Ireland
