Hi Jan,

I really appreciate your spending so much time looking for my gg-grandmother Rebecca Davies.  Too bad she refuses to be found!

I haven't got a clue where to look now.  Her son John Pryce, my g-grandfather, was married in Welshpool Independent Chapel, so perhaps there was an independent church in the Criggion area where she was baptized.  I don't know where their records would be held, though.

She and Evan Pryce were married in 1827 in Alberbury parish church, but lived in Welshpool from 1828 on.  She says she was born in Criggion, Salop on all the censuses except 1841, which just says born in county.  Her 1887 death cert shows her age as 82.

Three of their children say they were also born in Criggion:  Emma (1832), Elizabeth (1834) and Harriet (1838).  The four others say Welshpool:  William (1828), Eliza (1830), John (1835) and Philip (1844).

Anyway, many thanks once again.  I hope she'll turn up eventually.

Hello again :)

I've been doing a bit of Googling and found the following:

http://www.cpat.demon.co.uk/projects/longer/churches/montgom/16677.htm
Church of St Michaels and All Angels, Criggion

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MGY/Crugion/index.html
Information about Criggion.

I have just checked the Alberbury list of microfilms held at the Shropshire Archives (just in case I missed any!! ), and I see that there is a "printed" set of general baptisms, marriages and deaths from 1564 - 1812.  I will have a look at this next time I go.

Dear Jan,

If you are still a visitor to Shropshire Archives, I wonder if you would investigate a JANE HAYWARD (HAYWOOD) at Montford Cemetery during 1814-1819.

In 1819, at "Montford Hill", were living her sister and her father, who were looking after her child John WOOD (born 24 Nov 1814).

My gratitude in advance,

Regards, Benjy :)

Hello,
Looking for a Shropshire marriage of Maria Millichamp
between 1851 & 1861.
In 1851 she lived in the Bitterley area.
Thanks,
Hinton

Hi Hinton, your Maria may have gone to New Zealand unmarried, arrived 1858, with her mother Eliza Bray (nee Ick) who remarried to Benjamin Bray after Maria's father Edward Millichamp died about 1838. Does this sound like your Maria? If so, how are you linked?
