Marriage Registry, Yorkshire
« on: Tuesday 21 February 06 03:45 GMT (UK) »
Not sure if this is in the right place to put this but here goes.

Hunslet 1899:

John Preval marries Elizabeth Kirby.  Marriage Certificate Reference CE58/D/364.  Marriage Registry June Quarter Hunslet Vol. 9b Page 533.

Sam Preval marries Hannah Maude.  Marriage Certificate Reference CE58/D/363.  Marriage Registry June Quarter Hunslet Vol. 9b Page 533.

With the Marriage Certificates following in number I presume that it was a double wedding or that one followed the other.  If that were the case would both marriages have the same Registry number assigned?

Confused in B.C.

Hi there,

Yes...you would get two marriage records to one page but with consecutive reference numbers such as Page 533 No 1066 and page 533 No 1067.

Hope that helps
Martin

Hi Martin

I didn't know there was a number issued, I take it this would be a line number.  The Marriage Registry only gives a Volume and a page.  It never occurred to me that there would be more than one marriage on a page.

Thank for making it clearer, I'm not as confused anymore.
