Hi Ian.  :)

It has not been the same here without you.  :)

Good to see you back.

I take it Lisa told you she looked after me when I was
in hospital in March. Poor Soul.

I will have look at the blocking point you have in later
as I just sneaked on whilst doing someone's tree for them.  :)

Hi again Ian.

I have looked at Alan and Marilyn's baptism cd and noticed this
baptism at Newnham.

Newnham, near Daventry, near Weedon, near Floore, near Heyford.???

Newnham C of E

09 Feb 1741
Jane MARCKIE d of James & Elizabeth.

We know James married at St Seph's by Licence Susanna Adams
(of Nether Heyford).

The parents of above are noted on the Northants Marriage Indexes.

Newnham By License

29 May 1740
James MARCKIE otp to Elizabeth JENINGS otp

As James and Susanna baptise a child James also do you
think it was following family tradition.

What do you think.

Just had another thought Ian.

As you now know James died in 1797, how old was he.

Hello sandy
I have not come across this before intersting but and i hate that word but James Markie died 1797 age not given his wife died in 1810 age not given both at Nether Heyford and finding twins being born there too and they both died.
as he was married in 1760 and i assume him to be of the age of 21 !!! erm that would put his birth before 1739.
as for tradition yes it seems that the either the 1st son was called after the father or grandfather.
Ok this still does not count this family out but it now also gives me maybe another lead ?
as it asks who are they lol !
No Lisa didnt tell me that you had been in hospital or anything last time i saw Lisa was at the funneral of her nan which was my aunt early this year. otherwise i have not spoken much.
Hope you are better too .

Hi again Ian.

You know how we love a difficult one.  :)

Anyway I have found a James listed as a Mercer in 1762
and living in Boddington.

As a James and Susanna are baptising there in that time period I
wondered therefore if there could have been a will , with James
being in the textile trade.?

Most of the graves I have for the Nether Heyford Church are
un-readable, although you can see possibly some would be in
the time scale you need .

Hello Sandy
i have missed this you know  ;D

Right yes James lived in Boddington from 1760 to 1769 and he owned his house there as i have seen the title deeds to it or should i say mortgage details as he borrowed £50 from a Miss Sabin.
and his occupation then was a Chapman. so do you think he was a travelling textile man ?
after Boddington he moved to Nether Heyford never found a will and i have looked
we also have John Markie at the same time at the Griffin Inn Pitsford who married Martha he then died a couple of years later, cannot prove he is the brother of James.
Is it possiable that James of Newnham and James of Boddington are the one of the same ? or could the James of Newnham be the uncle of the same family
as the surname ok spelt differently but it is near as you will get and i would of thought there has to be a connection somewhere ? and we are in the right area too !

I love the way you pop up with extra bits of info Ian.  ;D

I did my friend's Anna's family tree, put it all on to DVD for her.

When I gave it to her I said I could not find any links to Ireland.

She replied , well they came from CORK. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.  ;D

Anyway the defintion of Chapman http://rmhh.co.uk/occup/c.html

All I do know is he is not on the 1771 Militia List in the County.

I wonder if it would be an idea to try and follow either the wife
in case you haven't already done so for a will.

Hi Sandy
I looked at the link and went arh ok mercer or chapman seems quite clear then, almost the same thing ! quite a respectable man then.
I am unable to find a will for susanna markie the wife of James. mind you i know she was from Nether Heyford and i am yet to even find her birth ! as Susanna Adams. there is another mystry to me.
the entry in his death does also state the following occupation keeper of weighing machine on Stow Hill
It does seem strange that i dont think that they were poor nor rich, but i would of thought they would of had enough to make a will. but i never come across one at the records office.
If he is not on the 1771 militia list does that mean he would of been over a certain age ?

Afternoon Ian.  :)

Is the Stow Hill near Stowe Nine Churches nr Weedon?

I do not know any other.

As they married by License they could have come into Northants
from anywhere really.

Were any of the witnesses rellies.?

I think James would have been to old for the 1771, but I thought
I would see if there were any other family members about.

Just some thoughts.

Sandy
