I'm looking for details of my Grandad.  He was born 7/11/1927 in the district of Billesdon.  According to his Birth Certificate his mother is Annie Elizabeth Vickerstaff.  No father is listed.  I wondered if anything different would be listed on the parish records.

Also I would like to find any information about Annie Vickerstaff, so that I can follow her line of my family tree back

It looks very much like he was illegitimate. 

Re: Annie.  You would need to first find her birth and then get a copy of her birth cert.

The FULL BMD index is now available to search free of charge at www.ancestry.co.uk.  You will find it described as England & Wales, BMD Index (Beta)

When you get her parents names, you can then look for them on the 1901 census which is also free to search on the above website

thanks for that.  Unfortunately the only thing I know about Annie Vickerstaff is what's on her son's birth cert, so i don't know how to find her birth cert without knowing when or where she was born. 

I usually find marriage certs helpful, but her not being married cuts that out
