1871 Marriage Antrim
« on: Thursday 16 February 06 10:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi Does anyone have the details of a marriage in Antrim of a William Chesney
and Rachel McCormick in 1871. They had a son James born Antrim, then 1872.
Round about 1880 went to Scotland where my gran was born 1881.
I have found Williams death cert. on it his parents were George Chesney wife
Jane McAllister.  Apreciate any imfo.
                                                         Regards Joxer42

You may find it is the 1871 entry shown on the Ulster Historical Foundation site. You can pay £6.00 to view the details of same. Or, as your gran was born in Scotland, her birth certificate is likely to record the place of marriage (I have a number of such) and armed with this info and the date/names you have, you could use Family Ulster's £3.50 option but it will take a bit longer to get the info as they need to hunt down the record and report back to you. Or, again with all the info you have, you could try direct at the local registrars office for the area (as pr 1922 Marriage records can still be obtained at source).

Hi Scotmum,  Thank you for your help, I had a look at my grans birth cert. and it
looks like they were married in Ahoghill Co. Antrim 1871.  So thats a bit of imfo you have gave me.  Had a look at the Ulster Historical site it looks promising, I
will be having a closer look today.

All sounds promising Joxer, hope you have success. Audrey certainly seems to have found probable sisters of your Chesney.

hi Audrey, The Cheneys look good, William would have been
about 26 when the girls married and may have lived elsewhere.
He must have been 36 when he married in 1871, his wife was 13 years younger.  I wonder if he had previously wed'

      Thanks again  Joxer42
