Jennings in Skewen c 1900 to 1950
« on: Monday 13 February 06 12:17 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on any Jennings in Skewen. I have details of W Jennings (maybe Wilfred?) in a 1926 Cricket club photo, and both Wilfred and Dudley (brothers) at a funeral in 1950.
Possibly in 1901 census, or maybe their parents were.
Thanks

This is a somewhat belated response to your note posted in 2006!  (Ernest) Wilfred Jennings married Olive Rees, the daughter of Philip Rees and my great aunt Martha Ann Bevan.  Dudley was his son, not his brother.

Thanks for the reply. I have since more or less established that they are not related to me. One branch of my family did travel from Somerset through south Wales in the late 1800s (one was even born in Neath in 1883) but they hen moved on. There are still some in and near Cardiff, though. I think the other Jennings family in the Swamsea area originated in Cornwall, though I can't be sure.

You are correct in saying the Jennings in Skewen originate in Cornwall.  Ernest Wilfred was born in Ruan 1896, his father in Porthleven, but his mother from Greenock, Scotland.

Might yet be related to my wife, though. She had Rees ancestors in Skewen, but I am not looking at her family at the moment.
