TRICKER, from Hadleigh, Suffolk to any, 1815 on.
« on: Saturday 11 February 06 23:38 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for TRICKER, William d. prior to 1839, occupation looks like malster(maltster?,?) on GRO cert. of marriage for son Richard.  Richard TRICKER, b. <1815> in "near to Hadleigh"(other census' show Tuddenham, Ludenham, etc.), d. 1904, West Ham, Essex.  There is an IGI record of a birth/christening for a Richard Tricker, 26 Mar 1815, s/o William Tricker and Sarah, in Hadleigh.  There is another IGI record for an Eliza TRICKER, b/c 28 Dec 1813 for a William Tricker and Sarah in Hadleigh as well.

Richard  married Eliza Chapman in 1839 in Middlesex.  In 1851 Richard and Eliza are in Sawbridgeworth, Herts. with children:

Mary Ann b. 1842
Arthur      b. 1843
Reuben    b. 1844  (My g-grandfather)
William     b. 1846
Walter      b. 1850

Reuben TRICKER married Lydia E. Fryer 1870 in London.  The following children of Reuben and Lydia survived to adulthood and may have decendants:

My grandfather is
Albert Charles b. 1888, West Ham, Essex
d. 1976, Oregon, USA

Also surviving were:
Alfred Reuben b. 1878, Essex   d. <1954>
Mabel Gertrude b. 1882, Essex  d. <1958>
Maud Elizabeth b. 1873,             d. <1959>
Percy Valentine b. 1880, Essex   d.               , Canada
Louis Richard    b. 1884, Essex   d.

Other than Percy and my grandfather the other children remained in England with family records listing Surrey as the place of death for Alfred, Mabel and Maud.

I am hopeful of finding others who may be researching this line of Trickers or possible connections.  Surprisingly Richard was not common given name among TRICKER families and Reuben is very rare.  When I started researching I foolishly assumed TRICKER was an uncommon name since I grew up in a state where 5 of 6 TRICKER families were related.  I was very surprised when I discovered just how many TRICKER'S there were in England.

Thank you for reading my post!
