I dont know if this helps but I  have an Elizabeth Aberdein who married a John Christie in 1849 just outside Ellon at Kinharrachie.

Would you have any other christies from the area???

Hi Baxsco

Thanks for that Ill put the names down actually they are the ONLY Christie names I have except for my James.
I dont know any other Christies in the area, its been hard for me to do any research for Scotland. All I know is what I have put up here I dont know wether James had brothers or sisters either :( Im at a loss on how to go about it as this is the first time Ive had anyone in the family from Scotland and Im not familiar with records in Scotland

If you have any hints or tips Id appreciate it.

regards
Shanko

Baxsco,

Pardon me for jumping in here but my g g grandfather, Robert Forsyth, remarried a Margaret Christie c. 1852 and I have anecdotal information connecting the family to Ellon.  Do you have a connection to Margaret, born c. 1819?

Shanko,

The 1861 census shows my Margaret Christie's birthplace as New Deer, Aberdeenshire, which may be another parish you could look for your Christie family.

Sorry Shanko,
You were asking for help.
It would help others if you gave a few more details.
If you have his marriage, then he would say who his parents were....

I have just checked Scotlands people, no James Christie born 1854 and the birth registered in Ellon... any other details that we could check for you...

If you had a marriage name ie who did James marry I could check that and it would give the parents names.

come back to me and will check for you

Best wishes

Kenjo

Firstly when I posted that post back in September last year I didnt know who James's parents were, I only got his fathers name from the marriage certificate last week. So still dont know his mothers name though.

I didnt know your PM to me was an offer as if you read it it doesn't seem like one so I didnt know what you PM'ed me about.
Hi Shanko,
Just read your message , Do you have his marriage?
Give me what info from when he starts to grow up.
kenjo

Thanks for offering but I didnt know what your PM really meant as it didnt state that

Hiya Mo

Thanks for that but his marriage was in London not Scotland so no good you looking for marriage details for him there :( I have his certificate which I received last week and due to being married in London it doesnt give the mothers name only the fathers

I was told by a friend that James could of been born near Ellon but thats all I have on him is Ellon which I got from the census returns. My friend also told me of the close places near Ellon but this is the first time I have need Scotland so Im quite a dumbo with Scotland and its places at the moment

Never mind, at least you have his Marriage Cert..

My geography skills ( especially with regard to Parish's anyway) in Scotland are not great lol... so need guidence

Scottish records are great, when you do get the successes, I have been quite lucky on finding out some marvellous information on the certs... shame its only on hubby's family not mine !!!

will keep an eye out for you though,.. best of luck in your search
