Cornish Names...

We all know the "Tre, Pol and Pen are true Cornishmen", but I am wondering if anyone would know why my Cornish family have a lot of Cardell, Carnell and Carkeek as middle names.  Is 'Car' also a common surname prefix in Cornish surnames, or are these forenames?  If anyone knows where these names could come from I'd be interested.

According to this site, yes:  (Car- often comes from 'Ker' - fort).

I saw 'Carkeek' and knew that one as Cornish, apparently Cardell and Carnell could well be so as well.  I'd guess these are surnames off on the female sides of this line?
