Parents of John Thomas Gillard b1872?

Hi,
I have been trying to find out the parents of my Greatgrandfather, John Thomas Gillard. He was born in 1872 in Kingsbridge, Devon. His siblings where Alice and William. I know that his parents resided in Bristol before his birth but unsure of exact place. Alice married a Dr Bremner,  William married Edith Rowe and they emigrated to Canada. My Ggrandfather married Susan Bardens from Bigbury-on-sea in 1895.
I have an idea his father was also called John as it seemed to be a family tradition but unsure of why that idea came to me. Any info would be a step closer as I seem to banging my head against a brick wall.

Thanks for your reply. It certainly looks promising, I shall do some follow ups and see what it uncovers. Thank you for taking the time to help me out i'm really grateful. 

Also, i noticed you have a link to Wicklow, would that be in Ireland (silly question)? I have family in Arklow, Wicklow.

Hi Julie, yes my connections are with Wicklow in Ireland. My Sutton family (my surname) are from Bray and Enniskerry (where I was born). Other names in my tree from Wicklow are Bird, Britten, Callaghan, Cremin (sometimes spelt Criemen), Denieffe, Doyle, Flynn, Geraghty, Keenan, Keogh, O'Brien, O'Byrne, Redmond, Sinnott, St Leger and Tobin. A lot of the Sutton family who remained protestant after my side converted to Catholisism lived in Arklow and around there.
 What are your connections, as Arklow is only over the hill from Enniskerry.

Hiya Kate,
My Uncle lives in Fern Hill, Arklow, he is a Nolan and his wife is a Kinsella, my Grandparents lived in Gorey, Wexford, about 15-20 min drive away. Arklow and the surrounding area is a lovely place.
I spent many school holidays over there and can remember crying my heart out as I didn't want to go home to London. Would be funny if you knew of them. My Uncle works at the Arklow Train Station and my cousin Pat also works on the trains. My Uncle in law used to work at the old Noritake factory and I believe has a pottery shop in town.

I haven't been back to Wicklow for a good few years. I moved to Blighty when I was small and that was 20 years ago. Last time I went was in 1997. Hopefully going for Easter though. I still have many relatives in Wicklow, so will mention the names to see if anyone knows them.
