Ok, great.
I'll let you know when I'm going and how I make out.
Even an obit. for Abner Cherry may make mention of his son predeceasing him.

Guildhall Library holds records of the licentiateship of the Society of Apothecaries:
http://www.history.ac.uk/gh/apoths.htm
Not sure how much info that would give you, though.
Abner Cherry was also in York West in 1871, you can see him on the index here and order a copy of the full census:

Here's Abner Cherry in 1861, 'married within year', what might be stepchildren in the household.

Census information is Crown Copyright, from

That's great what you found in the 1861 Jorose!
In 1911, there is a daughter with the last name Mably and the family underneath Abner, Raspin Cherry is a innkeeper, perhaps he took over?

Hi Lee,
Just a quick update, I spoke with the girl at the library in Aurora and there is an obit. for Abner Cherry, so I will get a copy and hopefully it will have information to confirm if this is your family.

Obituary for Abner Cherry, October 19, 1923
The death occurred at his home on Wellington Street on Sunday afternoon of Abner Cherry, one of the oldest pioneers of York County. Mr. Cherry was born at Hessle, Hull, England, 90 years ago. He went into the hotel business at Fisherville, 3rd concession of York township, and kept an establishment for 52 years, never during all that period having a charge laid against him. He was a great favorite with the people in the district where he lived. Some years ago he retired and came to Aurora to live. In religion he was an Anglican and in politics a Conservative. He is survived by his widow and found daughters, Mrs. Hulse and Miss Mably of this place; Mrs. Johnson of Toronto, and Mrs. Sutton of London, also one brother, Mr. Joseph Cherry of Gormley. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon to the Aurora Cemetery.
So, no mention of George. I didn't have time to look at the paper for around the time George died in 1893, but the librarian thought it would be possible for him to be there. I am going back to the library on next Wednesday (without children
and will look at that year.
