Canadian records are organised by province, so it depends where and when. If this is the George Alton Cherry who was a doctor in 1891, you might have some luck looking at the Medical Directory/Medical Register as he should be listed in these for the years he was in the UK practicing medicine - usually names qualifications etc. The Guildhall library has a full set of these, other large libraries will probably also:
