Hi there Glenpenny,
I am a Lewis and I am also doing Heard and Gowers (both were grandparents). i have a large amount of information already but I need to be able to confirm with parish records or by other means.
My main objective at the moment is to link the Lewis's born between 1770 and 1825. I think they are all related. I have parish birth records to 1812, then I hit the wall.
regards Norm.

Hello Norm,

I have a William Lewis who married Elizabeth Partner in 1854 in Stebbing. No Heards or Gowers I'm afraid.  Children I'm aware of were Ellen Jane and George.

Sorry but I live in Lancashire so have the same problem re. parish records as yourself, even though I do live a heck of a lot closer to Essex.

Hi

I know that you were asking about parish registers post 1812, but this may help someone.

My gg grandfather was Esdras Gowers b.1799 in Stebbing, if you go to the SEAX website:
http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/login.asp?Start=True&ERO=2
Register as a guest - search for Stebbing parish registers (in the full text search) the first item should be the Stebbing parish registers from 1712 to 1812, unfortunately they are not indexed so you will have to trawl through the pages - Good Luck!
DOE Essex (Dunmow, Thaxted) Kent (Beckenham)    BARNARD Essex (Stebbing, High Roothing)
CLAYDON Essex (Stebbing, Black Notley)    GOWERS Essex (Stebbing)    WEAVER Essex (Black Notley)

HEYWARD / HEYWOOD / HAYWARD London (Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Southwark) Yorkshire (Leeds)
ATKINSON London (Bermondsey, Camberwell, Deptford)    FIRTH Yorkshire (Leeds)    GREAVES Yorkshire (Leeds)
PAGE London (Deptford)    TEMPLE Yorkshire (Knaresborough, Spofforth)

Hi Eagletone,
My g.g.grandmother was Sarah Jane Gowers b1859. I have traced back to Thomas Gowers b1771. I have your line on my files with a connection being Samuel Gowers married to Caroline Gowers. I also have connections to a number of other Stebbing families.
Norm.
