Billingsley's of Wolverhampton
« on: Friday 24 September 04 00:33 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm interested in knowing if anyone has a Billingsley branch on their tree. My branch lived in Wolverhampton for several generations before moving to Islington, London, in the 1850's.  I have yet to locate my family in the 1861 census but i think they may have been in Birmingham at this point.

I have some information on my website and have a lot more to add when i get a chance, so if anyone wants to share information, let me know.

Paula

Hi Paula,

I recently rec'd my gr-gr grandfather's death certificate from 1869 and the informant is Jane Billingley (I believe it should read Billingsley).  The place of death was 12 Court High Street, Aston, Birmingham.  In looking at the 1871 census Jane is married to William Billingsley and they are at the same address, they have a 10 year granddaughter Selina Billingsley living with them.

My gr-gr grandfather's name was Charles Kempson, hinge maker.  His wife was Emma Birch.

Just wondered if you have come across these Billingsley's?

I have traced my Billingsley line back to Worfield which is in Shropshire near Bridgenorth, but they lived in Amblecote (near Dudley) at one time (George Billingsley b 1865 Amblecote).  Will exchange notes with interested parties.  Rgds, AndyB

I have a generation of Billingsley who had at least two children in the area - but moved away to Runcorn, Cheshire in 1820's/1830's. And by 1871 they had ended up in Liverpool
