Richard HOOK & Esther PICKERING m.1806
« on: Saturday 04 February 06 19:31 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find any information about Richard HOOK and Esther PICKERING who I believe were married in 1806 in Bulley.  I would like confirmation of this if possible and any other information about them.  They are my gggg grandparents.

I would also love to hear from anyone who is descended from the Hooks of Gloucester.

Best wishes

Hi Ticker,

Will be in Gloucester RO next week if you want a look up?

Anything to do with Henry Hook (VC Medal Rorke's Drift)?  He was born at Churcham and is also buried there.   Churcham is "across" the road from Bulley :)

Hi Susan

Thanks very much for your kind offer.  If you get time I would love to have some details of Richard Hook's birth and his parents.  But as I don't have an exact date I know its a bit difficult.

I would like to think that a VC winner was one of my ancestors but I haven't come across a Henry that would have been the right age at the time of Rorke's Drift.  Do you know who his parents were?  I do have a Henry (Harry) Hook (the son of my gg grandfather Walter) but he would have been too young I think.  It would be great to make a connection.

Best wishes

Hi!

The IGI has an entry for the christening of Esther Pickering at Bulley on 18th May 1783. It shows that she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Pickering.

There are also entries for the christening of more of their children....

Elizabeth    5th Mar 1782    Bulley
Joseph    15th April 1784    Churcham With, Bulley
Emy    5th Sept 1790    Churcham With, Bulley
William Phelps    4th Mar 1792    Churcham With, Bulley
Sarah    20th Sept 1793    Bulley    (This is a submitted entry)

Best wishes,

Ju

Hi Ticker,

Richard Hook of the Parish of Tibberton, and Esther Pickering of this Parish were married in this Chapel this twenty ninth day of June 1806.

                           by Mr. W'm Gyllett  Curate

This marriage was                      R. Hook
solemnized between Us              E. Pickering

In the presence of           Jo's Pickering
                                           Mary Hook

Couldn't find a baptism for Richard, Bulley or Churcham, did a quick search of Tibberton back to 1780  but nothing  ???

If you need any more let me know

Susan  :)
