Robert Johnston and Anna Minett
« on: Friday 03 February 06 00:52 GMT (UK) »
Having just begun my search for links to my family past I am conscious that at some stage Robert Johnston (b1829) met and married Emma ***** (b1834).
Robert was from Manchester, Emma from Fordham (Cambs). What puzzles me is how or why they met at all, and what made them go to London? Or did they meet in London and then marry? Anyone any lines of thought I may pursue. Or even facts that explain would be wonderful.

Hi Joelrio

What information do you already have on the pair?

Do you have all census entries for them?  The date of birth of their eldest child will provide a clue to their marriage date.  It might also help with the location, but that is not guaranteed.

If you post what you know, we will see what can be seen!

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Arranroots/Trish/Emma,
Have you guys given me some information or what! Thanks to your leads, on one branch I am back to 1817 with another link arriving tonight still to go. On another I am back to 1829 and resting. Plus I have found that my Grandad did have a history before his birth date, which I am working on. One young lady that I am interested in finding a bit more about is Emma Munns from Fordham. On the 1851census she is shown as a servant, still in Fordham. Her birth is given as around 1834. This seems to tie in with her later on becoming Emma Johnston. Can anyone help me here. Parents would be real good but I will settle with anything. I am still amazed how you do it, but keep it up.

Hi JoelRio

You need an 1841 look-up or a marriage cert to be sure of the parents namess.

I can tell you that there are 2 MUNN families in Fordham in 1851.

Would you like details?

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Evening!

What can I say?  I was on a roll!!  ;D  I too had spotted Emma Munns as a prospective Mrs Johnston, but can't tie the two of them together!  I think there were also Emma Limes and Emma Bland who fell into the right timescale too....just to throw some more cats among the pigeons!

Regards, Emma ;)
