Chertsey 1900

Is there anyone who knows Chertsey and its history c1900?

I'm researching the Finn family some of whom lived there, at least as far back as 1834 and certainly in 1881, in Meeting House Lane. I can't locate this address in the 1901 census. Is it still there?

Some of the other families I'm following lived in the City of London, Walworth and Kennington in the 19th century, and I've found that there, the names of streets and buildings are changing all the time.

I would not claim to be an expert on Chertsey, although some of my ancestors were born and died there. 

Meeting House Lane no longer seems to exist.  Looking at the enumerators walk in 1881, it would seem to be off Windsor Street.  Alwins Row is also mentioned as being in Meeting House Lane.  Looking at the modern map I see that there is an Alwyns Lane which joins Windsor Street near the Chertsey Museum (housed in a building called The Cedars).  I suspect it was probably near there.  I cannot see it on the 1872 map on the old maps site, but there is a congregational chapel marked and the almshouses.  These were mentioned close by on the enumerator's walk in 1881 as well.  An e-mail to the Chertsey museum may well elicit the information you need:

My mum & grandparents (surname = TRIGG) used to live in Alwyns Lane - I remember the Alms houses really well. Chertsey museum is a minutes walk away! If I can help in anyway, I visit Chertsey regularly.

I've had an e-mail from Chertsey museum, thanks to Nell's recommendation, confirming the Alwin Lane stuff, and offering more information.  In 1881 census, Meeting House Lane doesn't seem to have house numbers, so I don't know if there was just one dwelling  or what.
