Alice Winter, died Spigs Rest, Cape Colony 1903
« on: Thursday 02 February 06 08:19 GMT (UK) »
Would like to find info on Alice (nee Winter).  She was only 27 when she died.  Married to (I think) John Phillips, had 3 daughters, Olive, Dorothy and another (unknown name).  I have her birth details - just looking for info on cause of death and relatives left.
I am sorry but my emails are not working.

Firstly can someone tell me where Spigs Rest is please?  Only information I have on Alice's death is "Spigs Rest, Cape Colony" on 30 October 1902.  Born Alice Brown in Scotland in 1873.  Husband was John Philip and they had 3 daughters: Mary Olive, Emma and Dorothy.  I would like to find Alice's death certificate if possible.

Alice Winter was actually born Alice Brown (my mistake - researching Winter family at the moment).  Still would love to know where Spigs Rest is.

No idea where Spigs Rest is, cannot find anything on Google, perhaps the name of the farm. Did find this though.

Ruth, the person I am looking for is Alice Philip (nee Brown).  She was born in Scotland in 1873 and I have only the barest information that she died in Spigs Rest, Cape Colony on 30 October 1902.  Her husband was John Philip who I cannot find either.  Their 3 children were Mary, Emma and Dorothy and they appear on the 1901 Scottish census with their grandparents - no mention of parents on the census so have assumed their mother was too ill to look after them so they were sent to Scotland.
Apologies for the confusion with the names.
