parish marriage record look-up please
« on: Thursday 02 February 06 02:46 GMT (UK) »
George Onions married Diana (or Dinnah) Williams
on April 9, 1815 St. Matthew, Walsall Staffordshire.

Is there any way to find out the father's names, witnesses or any additional information from this?

I very much doubt this information is available online (I'm sure someone will let me know if I'm wrong) . You'd be better off going to the local records office for the area of interest and physically checking the parish register.

Thank you for your input, Tids54.  I wish I could go to the local records office but I live in Canada.

Sadly, this entry wasn't particularly clear. There were no fathers names available on the entry and although I could clearly see one of the witnesses as John Smith, I could also clearly see that he witnessed the other marriages on that page so I guess he was one of the officers taking part in the administration. However, I am completely sure that the bride's name was Dianah - the two A's in the name were similar to each other but different from the N.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Build your own family..........or attempt to!

www.nzsghamilton.co.nz/england.htm

is an index system of the IGI's ........ it's easy to use and reasonably quick

for example it has GEORGE ONIONS MARRIED DINNAH WILLIAMS 9TH APRIL 1815 ST MATTHEW, WALSALL
it also has........
RICHARD ONIONS MARRIED 1836
PETER ONIONS MARRIED 1819
both at St Matthew's, Walsall.............are all three related?

their is a marriage in 1781 at St Matthews, Walsall of
WILLIAM ONIONS who married HANNAH THORNHILL but their doesn't appear to be any children christianed soon after!..........did they have any? or did they move away when married, have children, only for all/children to return at a later date............take a look around Staffs and see if you can find them?

If building an IGI family doesn't work?

If any other volunteers are going to the record office.........the marriage banns are normally read on three consecutive Sundays prior to the marriage ............ they may/may not reveal parents
