thank you that sounds like one of mine does it say what he was payed for as in what work did he do to recieve the salary ?

No sorry it's just as I've written it.  Could he have been the vicar?  I've just had a quick look through the book and I can't find confirmation of what he was paid a salary for.  The Rector is always referred to as just that 'the Rector' and not named anywhere that I can see.  There are only two salaried paid from the church accounts though - the one to 'your' Mr Hutchinson and £10 to Mr Yarrow.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Susan, I am originally from Gateshead Fell, and was a member of St John's in my youth. My wife also was a member - we were married there in 1958.

My parents, and my grandmother, were married there, and my great-great grandfathe owned the original Three Tuns.

Could you search your document for HALL, WALES, GRAHAM, or PARKINSON?

I'd appreciate it. In return, in 1983, my daughter copied the pertinent names from the St John's registers (they were still at thr Rectory in those days). So basically they are the HALL and WALES, but the maiden names are there so I could search for any you require.

Incidentally, my aunt still attends st John's.

My in-laws were married in Gateshead Fell in 1933 - GRAHAM/PARKINSON. I know the GRAHAM was living in Hedley Street, and originally from Brampton. - Any help?

Hello
Your offer is very kind - however I actually have no family in this area, and no connection to the church there.  The book I have was my mother's and I think she got it from an Aunt who lived there for a time.  The book only concerns a very short period but I have a Hall and a Wales for you.

Margaret Jane Hall   Sheriff Hill  baptised 15th June 1886
Margaret Jane Hall   Sheriff Hill  buried 28th September 1886 4 months

Charles Patterson Wales   Sheriff Hill  baptised 20th June 1886

Hope it's useful  :)

Susan, Thanks for the info.

My father told me about Charles Patterson Wales, emigrated to Canada, but at the start of WW1 he came back to the Uk, and was killed in action. I remember his widow, son Fred, and grandaughter Helen.

Hi Franklin
Welcome to rootschat.   I have edited your post as we do not publish email addresses in case they are picked up by spammers, and to protect your privacy.    Once you have two or three posts to your credit you can use our personal message system.  Click on the scroll under the name of the person you want to contact.
On the whole rootschat is not the best forum for finding living people and again we do not publish any names if they may be still alive.
