Flora Brown of Sherborne
« on: Monday 30 January 06 22:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me with information on my great grandmother Flora Brown.

I know she married Ernest Mark Wood in 1893 in Cirencester, Gloucester and have found them both living there in 1901. Their marriage certificate shows her as 23 years old and fathers name as James Brown (labourer). The 1901 census shows her as being born in Sherborne, Dorset but I can find no record of her family.

Thanks, Alison

Hi Alison
I have searched in vain on the 1901 looking for Floras parents and i cant see them.
I found them easily enough in 1891 and 1881 but her fathers name according to the cencuses is Charles not James

They are there in 1901 but they have been transcribed as Charles and Hester PERSSON!
If they are the right couple, Charles' brother Alfred is living with them in 1861, and Charles is with his parents (Thomas and Ann) + rest of family in 1851.

Thank you both for your time!

I had also found Charles and Esther Brown in the 1881 census but had dismissed it as the marriage certificate had said fathers name was James.  Perhaps I should now try and find out if these are the correct Browns afterall.
Please could you let me know the other family members etc for 1851, 61, 91 and 1901.

Thank you once again, Alison.
