Hi Poppasmurf

Welcome to Rootschat

Is this the Robert CURTEIS who is living with his grandfather William in Cranbrook 1851?  If so, would the last sighting of Louisa be at his birth/baptism c1842?

Where have you looked for a birth/death of Louisa?

Yes this is Mother of Robert Curteis born 1842. I have his birth certificate so i am sure of Louisa being his mother. Have her parish records for her birth and census records 1841. Have tried the census records for 1851.1871 with no luck. Tried parish records for Death and another marriage with no luck. LDS search no luck as well. Searched the Catherine's index also with no luck.
Found Robert in the 1871 census listed as Carter but mother was not living with him. Have traced this family back to 1445 with only one gap between 1777 a William married to Sarah Viny. He was a master butcher but the butchers guild had no record of him. I was hoping to find his father through these records. Could only find two William Curteis born about the dates that fit the death certificate for the William that i have 1721,23 respectively.I feel they will link up to George Curteis and Mary Hay married about 1673. Have been trying to close this link for the past 6 years but not given up. Thank you for replying and any assistance would be more than appreciated.

The rector of St Michaels church in Tenterden in the early 1800's married into the Curteis family. Apparently there are some gravestones in the actual church. Not sure if there are any Curteis as well as Beale but you could try writing to the current vicar,

Regards

Lucy

The MIs for Tenterden are on the Kent Archaeological site

There are plenty of CURTEIS but I can't see an entry for Louisa.
