« on: Thursday 26 January 06 16:38 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace ANN RICHARDS nee Godley, b. 1855 Farnsfield, Notts., England, who married GEORGE RICHARDS. They emigrated to Australia in 1886.

Any info much appreciated

There are a number of children born to a George and Ann in the Newcastle district of NSW

18284/1891  RICHARDS  GEORGE A  GEORGE  ANN  LAMBTON
18887/1893  RICHARDS  HILDA A  GEORGE  ANN  LAMBTON
30819/1889  RICHARDS  ELSIE  GEORGE  ANN  MEREWETHER
10118/1895  RICHARDS  GEORGE D  GEORGE  ANN  ADAMSTOWN
22757/1897  RICHARDS  VERA  GEORGE  ANN  NEW LAMBTON

A birth transcription for any of them would confirm whether the mother was Ann Godley - although the 1897 would confirm whether the others were siblings so I would probably use it

You can search at  http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm
If you know the parent names and they died in NSW you should be able to find the death records. There are 3 pages of deaths to 1955 for George, quit a few in the Newcastle area. There are many less for Ann - spelt with one n - (could be many with Anne) including one where the age is given (index error or parent not known) 1926 aged 71 at Stockton.
