Dear Vicar's Wife -

My 3xGt.Grandparents were Robert Hodgkinson & Mary Ann Farrell. Mary Ann was born in Stockton on Tees - Durham and Robert in Wigan.
Would you be able to see whether you have any information on their marriage. This would have been c1845 but no further information on whereabouts in Durham if at all !

In appreciation..........

Hi Emmerline

I have nothing in my data for these names..

But most of the registrars have  an online facility for searching marriages.. for Durham..

I have looked on Durham.. Tees Valley and Darlington.. and only came a across a Margaret for those years..

Looks like they might have been married in Yorkshire..

Ancestry's Beta Index can be searched qtr by qtr all you have to do is register.. and trawl through the marriages.. if you find Mary Ann Farrell in one qtr you can then check on Hodgkinson in that same qtr to see if you get a match

Sorry

Hello Vicar's Wife,
(a) Have you come across any Stouts?
In particular John, Jasper or Mary.
Possible areas: Houghton le Spring/Rainton, Wingate and Coxhoe.
(b) Trying to trace the birth in about 1848 in Thornley of a Ralph whose 1851 census record gives his surname as Mills but this full name doesn't appear in the official BMD records.
Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Johnscotchpiper

No Stout's in the data..

wonder if it would be worth you checking on Genuki..

Paul Joiner has a list of mariages with codes of where marriages took place.. and there are a few places that have baptism ecords on there..

Just might be worth checking

Hello Vicars Wife - Thank you for your prompt reply. I have had no success with all my efforts in Ancestry etc but will keep looking. Maybe Yorkshire though their first child was born in Rouen, France and then they were all over the U.K. - ending up in Battersea.
Ten children but perhaps they did not marry !
Many thanks for looking for me.

Hi to the Vicar's wife,
I wonder if you would be kind enough to see if there are any members of the Pigg or Pigford family in your database and the Towdoff/Toaduff/Todiff family. They moved around the Durham area but I know they were around from about 1784 in Durham, before that they were in Gateshead.
As they are unusual names with so many variations on the spelling I have been having problems tracking them.
Thanks for your time, Kind regards,
Kathryn
Thornton, Pigford, Toaduff: County Durham.
Anderson, Parkin, Farnsworth, Broomhead: Lincs and Notts.
Kane: Liverpool / Ireland.
