Hello,
I have 2 births in Sedgefield with  George Meggison as father and I have to wonder if they are both illegitimate births.  How would I find out? I noticed the reference to Bastardy notes in a previous e-mail.
There is  Elizabeth Meggison or Wilson Christening Nov 9, 1816 Parents George Meggison and Mary Wilson
Also, George Meggison or Robinson Christening May 18,1823. Parents George Meggison and Ann Robinson.
I guess it would be impossible to find out if they are the same George as father and what family he belongs to.
Thanks for any helpful suggestions to find out.
Peggy

Hi Vicar's wife,
Would you mind terribly looking for marriages for any Harbottles, Crossleys, Pattisons or Gilfellon/an's please?
Love

In reply to EC3,I notice you have an interest in Todd from Durham,I have a John Longstaff who married Mary Todd by Banns at St Andrew Auckland on 13 June 1835.

I believe Mary was born 20 Dec. 1811 and baptised Jan. 12 1812.
She was a daughter of Christopher Todd 1782-1847 "a native of Nutty Hag near Byers Green and Anni Apedaile.

John and Mary went to New York in 1840s but came on to Australia arriving 1853.At least two children were born New York.

Hi Vicars Wife
I have quite a lot of Todd family data although my main interest is Longstaff.Christopher Todd 1782-1847 who married Ann Apeddaile 1779-1838 had at least nine children including Mary b1811.

Christopher above appears to be the son of a Christopher Todd and Sarah Willey.I do not have an Eleanor but there are numerous children.

The previous generation appears to be William Todd = Jane Rowell and they had at least eight children.

I am advised that the grave of Christopher Todd and Ann Apedaile is in Whitworth Parish Church, near Spennymore in County Durham.

Please let me know if you wish to discuss in depth.

Hello Mo
I will need to look more deeply into the detail I have.
The names and dates are so close without making an exact match.

Have you heard of Christopher Todd--The Blacksmith Who Became a Cancer Doctor ? He lived 1817-1882 s/o Thomas Todd and Mary Bradley.

I had better not get off the subject at hand.We just need to find the correct Christopher.
