b c1772 at Ormesby

m John Scaife at Guisborough 8.1.1809

d 1859 and buried at Guisborough.

I would love to get back a bit further.

Thanks

I think Sarah was nee Dickinson, daughter of Roger Dickinson. She was widow when she married John Scaife in 1809. Previosuly married to ? Percy. It would be great to find out Mr. Percy's christian name / parents. I have a note that John Scaife bought the George & Dragon inn Guisbro' from the Percys following his marriage to Sarah.

Thank you :o

I thought that , for those times, Sarah was quite a bit older than usual when she married.  That would explain it.  And how the pub owning came into the family.

As you say, now to find out about Mr Percy and the Dickinsons.  How did you find out about the pub and previous marriage?   :)

According to the Joiner Marriage Index, a Sarah Percy was married in Whitby at some time in 1793 as was a Thomas Percy.

Could this be it :-\

Is anyone able to confirm that they actually married each other?

According to the IGI, Thomas Percy married a Sarah Dickinson 17 May 1793, at Whitby.

On the same film are marriages for John Percy to Sarah Hussy Peacock (8 Apr 1799) and Sarah Parcey to Samuel Lawson (17 Jan 1791)

Hope that helps.

Thanks Jan

Yes I have now seen that one and found several children from that first marriage.  Also found what looks like a burial for Thomas Percy at Guisborough.
