THURSTON - Bakers in Newmarket
« on: Monday 23 January 06 13:18 GMT (UK) »
Am trying to trace details of Robert Thurston who had a bakery business in Newmarket in 1884. I believe that this was in Wellington Street or Albion Street. I believe that the business went bankrupt, but know no more.
What happened to the family after that?
Robert was married to Hannah Filby 1878 in Norwich, and had at least 6 children.
Hope someone can help.

Hi Ricky 1
Many Thanks
I have the 1881 census info, but not the 1901.
East Tuddenham has been noted, but 1837 site does not give a Robert Thurston birth for East Tuddenham in <1838>. The only birth for Robert Thurston around 1838 is for Newmarket.
I have traced George since 1901, and know his history, but I have no idea what happened to the rest.

Many Thanks

Hi Ricky 1
Sorry, I did missed the 1891 info. I now need to know what they were doing in Norwich as well.
Thanks

Hi,
Just saw this topic and the name THURSTON got my attention so I was wondering if your THURSTON could be related to a George THURSTON who's occupation is listed as a Tailor and Draper in 1861 Census would he?

George  THURSTON married Euphemia BREEZE

Does this ring any bells?
Breeze, Casselle, Glendenning, Grapes, Humphries, Jacka, Mason, Quinton, Rust, and Schurer

Hi
Sorry, but no link appears at present. The branch of the family I am looking at although bakers in Newmarket as above came from the Norwich area, and as yet I have no George, certainly not in 1861.
