I don't have your 1963 issue, but I have a personal connection to the magazine, so thought I'd share what I've pieced together about it and its publisher might help you, and maybe it'll jog someone's memory too. My father, Kenneth Simpson, was the editor of Personality around 1971, shortly before our family returned to the UK.
Personality and Scope weren't the same magazine renamed they were sister titles published by the same company. The publisher behind both, Perskor, was formed in April 1971 out of a merger of two older Transvaal-based publishing houses. Its magazine division trading as Republican Press, based in Durban was for years the largest magazine publisher in South Africa, with a stable that included Personality, Scope, Farmers' Weekly, South African Garden and Home, Darling, Family Radio and TV, Rooi Rose, Your Family, Bona, Living and Loving, Radio en TV Dagboek and Keur. Scope itself was launched in 1966 by Winston Charles Hyman, who owned Republican Press at the time and a surviving copy of Scope from April 1971 names its editor-in-chief that year as Willem Hyman, with the publisher listed as Republican Publications rather than Republican Press, so both names were clearly in use around then.

One thing worth knowing: there's no company left to write to directly. Perskor merged with Kagiso Publishers in 1996, then was fully absorbed into Caxton Publishers by 1998, so the corporate trail for Republican Press ends there. For an actual 1963 back issue, you'd probably have better luck through the National Library of South Africa or a university library with South African periodical archives than chasing a contact address for a publisher that hasn't existed in this form for almost 30 years.
