Hi carolanne,

Just found this thread today!  I am researching the Needham family and wondered if you could do a Barnsley cemetery look up for me?

The names I have are;  Frank Needham, died 12/9/1907 age 63.  Lucy Ann Needham, died March qtr 1879 age 34 and Annie Needham, died 1911 age 66.

Frank was my g'grandfather and a co founder of the engineering firm, Needham Brother's and Brown.
I live in North Wales and knew nothing of this connection until I started my research a couple of years ago!

Hoping you can help,
Baz.

Hiya Baz
There are loads of Needham burials so lets see what we can find.

Lucy Ann Needham age 34, Newton Street Summer Lane, buried 1 March 1879, section R plot 268.
Elizabeth Needham age 6,4 Middlesex Street,buried 8 March 1883 section R plot 268.
Hubert Needham age 27, Drowned in Canal @ Hoyle Mill Bridge / 4 Brinckman Street, buried 25 April 1901 section R plot 268.

Annie Needham age 65, 14 Agnes Terrace, Day Street, buried 11 February 1911, section H plot 184.
Walter Needham age 53,110 Blenheim Road, buried 28 June 1934, section H plot 184.

I can't see a burial for Frank there is only one burial in 1907 and thats for a Joseph Thomas Needham age 56,I'll have a quick look on other sites I know of.

Hiya Baz
I'm wondering if Frank has been missed off my listings the other site I've looked is giving me a burial for a Frank Needham between 1900 - 1909 in Barnsley Cemetery but this is a pay to view site and I haven't any credits left.
Google
Dearne Memorial Group & Barnsley Cemeteries Project
or
Phone the head office for Barnsley Crematorium 01226 206053
These are where all the burial records are held for the main cemeteries in Barnsley and ask if they will do you a search for Frank and quote the year he died and both of the plot numbers I gave you he could be buried with either of the 2 wives. They are very good at doing this and you can tell you live in North Wales.

Hi carolanne,

Many thanks for your help.  Fantastic result.  Will take up your suggestions.  Any idea where I can find out if any of them had headstones?

Cheer's,
Baz.

Hiya Baz
I'm not sure if they would know at the head office other than that it would mean going to the cemetery to find out I would say theres a good possibility with who they were there might be a headstone I'm in the area on Wednesday I could have a quick look for you.

R doesnt have many stones and is difficult to check. H is huge but a lot of stones do remain and plots can be found using the grave numbers in there

I think the MI's have been done for that section but I will need to check.  If you visit the friends website there is more information there.

I would have thought being Frank Needham would qualify him for a headstone but I must admit I haven't seen one for him. Did he die in Barnsley?
