May I please ask if you can find Joseph Hoyle. He was 71 in the 1851 census and his wife was a widow in the 1861 census. There are no ages given for the 1850s on FreeBMD but it looks like he may have died in 1855.

The Cemetery in Barnsley didn't open till 1861/62and the first burial I can see for a Hoyle was in 1864.

When you have time please could you have a look for some Slater families for me.  The only date I know is one for William Henry Slater 1874.

The other Slaters are Benjamin and wife Ann, Henry and wife Mary Ann, Alfred and wife Susannah, Henry and wife Ann and lastly John Henry Clegg Slater and wife Rebecca.  Any others would be a bonus :D

Thank you, Carol. I think Joseph died in 1855 aged 77 and his wife Mary aged 78 so there is hope for me yet!!!
