Hi,
I am searching for the burial details of Joseph Jones. He was in his 40s when he died in Barnsley in 1879. If anyone comes across him whilst looking through the records, I'd be really grateful to hear from them
Thankyou very much

Hi Carolanne
thankyou for replying so quickly. I am not sure if this is the right person. The Joseph Jones in my family was an underground manager at the mine. Maybe I've got the year wrong, I have found him in 1871 and he disappears in 1881. I cant read the address on the 1871 census. I have found his wife Harriet in 1881 and she is listed as a widow. Many thanks again

Hello,

I'd be very grateful if someone can do a Barnsley Cemetery look-up please.  My Great grandfather's brother William Fisher lived in Barnsley I understand he died in 1911 aged 69, he was a wood turner by trade.  His first wife Sarah, died in 1891.  His second wife was called Jane I have found a possible GRO death ref. for her 1929 aged 83 years but don't know if this is the right one or not. I believe Jane was a widow when she married William so it is possible that she is buried with her first husband; his surname was Jackson.

Best wishes,

Janeada

Hiya Janeada
William Fisher age 69,19 Doncaster Road,burial 5/8/1911 plot M 965
Sarah Fisher age 48,56 Waltham Street,burial 12/7/1891 plot M 965

Jane Fisher age 83, 40 Sheffield Road,burial 31/5/1929 plot G 1042
Mary Gill Jackson age 41,19 Doncaster Road,burial 9/12/1909 G 1042

I've followed the Jackson family through the census and they must have been neighbours of the Fisher's in 1881 they lived in Waltham street Jane's husband was called Thomas there is a registration for a death in 1888 Jan 1/4 and also a burial but not in the same grave as Jane and her daughter.

Thomas Jackson age 45,Fever Hospital,burial 13/2/1888 plot R 302

Hiya Carolanne,

Thanks ever so for the info on the Fisher burials - Jackson is an unexpected bonus.  I knew there was a Jackson daughter Mary G.; she is with her mother and William Fisher in 1891, The rest of the household is Fred Jackson and Thomas Fisher.  Thomas will be Thomas William, born 1884 and I was told he died in 1944, he married Emily Fletcher in 1908.

Thomas Jackson must have died of Diphtheria or Scarlet Fever or something to have been in the Fever Hospital.  I've found the 1881 census you mentioned and note that most of the Jackson children were born in Darfield.  William Fisher had a brother, Samuel, who lived there so maybe the two families were well acquainted.

Once again thank you, you've been a great help.

Hello Carolanne
many thanks again, it looks as though it was probably him as the addresses are so close. If I can find out Arthur was, it might solve the mystery.

Thankyou and keep up the good work, its much appreciated.
