Hiya Dollylee
In the 2 listings I've got I can only see 1 burial
Emily Whitford age 11months, 72 Cemetery Road, burial 14 March 1914 plot number K 104.
According to births in Ancestry Emily's mum's maiden name was Sykes.
If I find anymore I'll post them

Thank you so much carolanne.

Poor little baby buried all on her own.... how sad  :'( :'(

I think she could possibly be my s-i-l's grandfathers sister.

Thanks again for looking .... I know you are getting a lot of requests and I really appreciate it.

Barnsley Cemetery, Grave of my Grandparents
« Reply #103 on: Thursday 05 February 09 12:18 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

New to the site and I am trying to find the grave of my grandparents who lived at Heelis Street and High Stone Vale in Barnsley. Their names were George William Roydes and Sophia Roydes, can any of you kind people help me?, do not think their are many with the name spelt with the "e" in it as we do. My Dad died recently at 90 years of age and he moved to Birmingham in 1935. I would love to visit the grave of my Grandparents , but I never met my Grandad and my Grandmother died when I was very small and I do not know where they are buried.

John

Thanks
Roydes In Barnsley

Hiya John
I think I've found your Grandad  but spelt without the e
George William Royds age 70 lived at 26 Highstone Vale buried 12 December 1949 plot number 13 623.
I can't see Sophia in either spelling have you any idea on the year she died as my info only goes upto 1960

Hi Carolanne,

Thanks for your help it is appreciated. It is my Grandad you have found, they did live at 26 Highstone Vale, I went there to see Nan with my Dad and Mom when I was about 4 or 5. I was born in December 1959 and remember Nan dying a year or do after I visited her so I guess it was about 1966 or so and after your records.

I went back to see 26 Highstone Vale in December of last year but at the time had no idea where my Grandparents were burried, but I do now thanks to you and will go back and visit the grave. Do you live in the area Carolanne ?

Many Thanks

John

Hiya John
I live in Dodworth which is 2 mile from Barnsley town center. I'll have a look in  Ancestry see if I can find your Grans death. I would imagine they are buried together.
I have a plan of the sections of Barnsley Cemetery so you can see where the section is but not the number of the grave to find exactley where the grave is you will have to contact the crem at Ardsley they will do you a section plan with the grave marked. If you want to PM me with your addy I'll send you the copy of the cemetery.
