Hello

Could I ask for a little help? My husbands grandma has just died and we are looking for her twin sister who we think died shortly after birth. We know the family were from Barnsley and that they weren't a well off family - Would Barnsley Cemetery be the most likely place for her to have been buried? Could someone look for her in the records or tell me how I could access them? The twin's name was May Carter and we think she was born/died in 1932. We are also looking for her mother (but we don't have a first name for her) who died about 2 or 3 years later (I guess they may be together).

Thank you

Toni

I can see a May Carter 2 months old buried 27 aug 1932 lived at 12 Copper Street Barnsley plot b 107. Can't see a family member with her but I was told by my gran years ago it was known that young babies were put in any grave that was open at the time so maybe if the family were poor thats what happened.
I'll see if I can find out about her mother

Ancestry is playing up at the moment but I've managed to find the birth for May,
May Carter july 1/4 1932 9c 349 Barnsley mother's maiden name Roberts.
When Ancestry is working I'll see if I can find the Marrige for her parents then I'll look for the mothers death.
Regards Carolanne
Ancestry is still not working as it should but I have found away around it but its taking four times as long, can you tell me if there were any older siblings

hi       Carolanne

thanks for quick response.  The grave for May sounds as if it is the one we are looking for as she was born on the 5th of June which would make her 2 months old.  We know of birthdays an names of 3 older sisters but there were about 8 other siblings.  The eldest i have found is Doris born (or rather was registered) in the december quarter of 1919.  I have tried to find a marriage but have been unable to find one between an Albert Carter and anyone with maiden name Roberts registered in Barnley.

Did they marry ???
Ancestry will only let me look at partial indexes so I've looked for a marriage around 1919 between a Albert Carter and ? Roberts with no luck anywhere in England. I've searched Free BMB for a marriage with no luck I have found all 8 children born / registered in Barnsley from 1919 to 1932.
I'll have another look in my burial records and see if she named any of her daughters after herself other than that you will have to send for one of the childrens birth certificates  to get her full name.

Carolanne

If you could find:

Clara WAKE, d.1883

especially if it indicates her age/d.o.b., I'd be grateful.

Thanks

Chris
