Does anyone know what I can find convict records. Am trying to find info on Henry Albert. Sentenced at the Central law Courts 1850, transported to Australia.  His address at the time was 93 Fenchurch St. London.

Hi Mimmyt,

Oh dear, I do sympathise with you. I have a surname Henry, and it is very difficult to search any site without coming up with every single Henry xxx. Your Henry Albert must be twice as difficult.

Suppose you have tried the Old Bailey site (my all-time favourite)?  I had a look in 1850 with no joy.

I hope this link takes you straight to the ship Hashemy, which brought Henry to Western Australia.

Just above the list of names of the convicts there is a 'NOTE' which gives a link to descriptions of the men on the voyage.

Looks like your Henry Albert was a married warehouse man with 3 children  :)
It goes on to describe his height, hair, distinguishing marks etc

Imagine being able to read actual physical descriptions of an ancestor ...

Convictcentral is a great site, but I failed to find Henry Albert there!

Yes, I do have all his description and the boat, it was the early info in London, that I am looking for I have received some new info, but it is mainly his birth that I am looking for.

I know this will be a frustrating answer if you are in Australia but if Henry Albert was sentenced at the Central Criminal Courts (Old Bailey) besides his trial records (which will eventually appear on the Proceedings of the Old Bailey website) he will have been held pending his trial at Newgate prison. Newgate prison registers held at The National Archives will give his birthplace.

scroll down until you find

Criminal, Tracing a 19th Century

lists all the possible records available. The only way to access these records is to visit The National Archives.
