PAYNE family of Bridgewater, Somersetshire
« on: Wednesday 14 January 04 06:35 GMT (UK) »
My great g/m was Eliza Payne, born in Bridgewater in 1847. At some stage of her life, she married a man named BECK, and I don't know if this was before or after she emigrated to New Zealand.  In any case, he seems to have died because she married my great g/f, William Thompson, labourer, in Wellington NZ in 1874.  They had four children: William (DOB?) Agnes Eliza (1879) my g/f Robert Payne Thompson (1881) and Samuel George Payne Thompson (1883) - the last three born in Dunedin.  (Did she have any children to BECK - no idea).  The family emigrated to Australia in the 1890's, where they seem to have settled in the Katoomba area of the Blue Mts., west of Sydney.

Any ideas, suggestions or links would be very welcome.

Hopefully, Leith :)

Hi Leith

Are you doing a One Name Study on the entire family name or are you just after information on particular individuals?

If the latter is the case I will gladly move the post for you to a more relevant board which may help to generate a response for you.   Please let me have any information on possible locations (County etc.) so I can place it in the right board.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes
