Goathland/Pickering

Please can anyone look up the 1841 census for the above area.  I am particularly looking for the name of Pearson/peirson.  Thankyou

This is a fairly broad ranging request given the spread of this name in the area.  I have Elizabeth PEIRSON bapt 4 December 1788 at MIDDLETON BY PICKERING.  She married John HOLLIDAY on 3 March 1814 at Middleton,  Her father was Thomas Peirson.  Elizabeth was my wife's GGG Grandmother.  I am not particulalrly looking for her descendants as yet as our line is Holliday and so have not spent time on the 1841 census but wonder if you think there may be a connection with your line that we could take further.

Hi Calvert

Have you been able to narrow down your request - do you have any first names to work on?

Best wishes

Hi Calvert

I have in my tree John Pierson (Peirson/Pearson - names all differ on censuses) born 1845 in Rosedale who married Grace Dixon Pashby and sired Mary Milcah Pierson (b.1878 Broughton), John Leadlay Pierson (b.1880 Broughton) and Eva Pierson (b.1885 Broughton).

It is also possible that he is the father of the illegitimate Pierson Dixon Pashby (b1880 in Levisham), son of Betsy Mary Hogden Pashby (b.1860 Levisham).

To further confuse the issue, Margaret Pashby (b.1826 Levisham) married a John Peirson (b.1826 in Rosedale)

All of these places are in the very close vicinity of Pickering.

Are they of any use to you?

Hi Kalemar

My stepfather is a Holliday, born Scarborough 1934 - any relation of yours?

Dear Roger,
I can go a fair way back on the Holliday line but, for the time being, 1934 is a bit recent for me!  The name is not uncommon but the family is also large so there is always a posibility that there may be a connection.  Best wishes,  Bernard
