I believe that burials at St Mary's churchyard ceased around 1848 and Holy Trinity was then used. In 1888 the new cemetery in Boston Road came into use. George Jobson is buried with his mother (Susan) in the Boston Road cemetery.

It's the pre 1888 memorials at Holy Trinity that we missed and these may include George's father John 1886, brother John Robert 1894, grandfather William 1879, grandmother Rebecca 1865. There may well be more than these.

I have a pictures of the family with Susan & the 4 boys plus 3 wives, George never married but missing father John. Based on marriage & death dates this would date the picture to between 1886 & 1894.

George also, apparently, had the first car in Horncastle and I do have a very poor copy of this as well.

Tks for your help, it is appreciated

Happy New Year to all

Edward

Hi Dianne.
Although I have been researching the family tree for two years now, this is the first time I have used RootsChat, so I may have the procedures completely wrong, but here goes.
I notice that you have the family name Mumby, listed in your trees. My connection is through Rebecca Mumby. She married William Dawson, and they had a daughter Maria Dawson (28.7.1820).
Maria Dawson married my relative, Mark William Edwards,(1822), in 1844 at the Parish Church in Horncastle.
I have a complete history from then, up to the present day, of the Edwards line, but I have not been able to get any further back than Mark's Father ,Thomas ( 1797).
I have been to the County Archives in Lincoln, but found nothing of direct value.

Any information that you may have on the Mumby's might give me a clue. I am happy to share with you what I have, if that is of any value.
Kind regards. Mike.

Good morning Edward I'm new to roots hat but found your entry regarding George Jobson and Horncastle. I wonder if I could acquire the photos you refer to in your previous post ... I'm researching George for a local history presentation.  Many thanks in anticipation.  Christine Chapman

Hi Cfc, welcome to RootsChat :)

I have just attached your reply to hopefully the correct topic, it looks like it had gone astray with a different topic.

Regards

Sarah

Welcome to RC

I am quite happy to share but the photos are somewhat unique and before agreeing I would like a little more information about the presentation as I may also be able to add family information as well.

regards

Edward

Regarding George Jobson,

I was wondering if anyone has any detailed information on him filed away that goes beyond what is available on the internet.  I have not been able to locate any close family, but any corroborating offline information, such as a letter written by him for example, that may seem insignificant, would be helpful before I publish the work.   Thanks all.

Ian, please provide me with more information on your work on GJ. I am aware of a number of people who are related to him and depending on what you are doing they may, or may not, choose to talk to you.

Hi Edward,  Two research-based articles.  One is about his career and is about 6,000 words.  I am particularly interested in any photos, people, and the companies he worked with/for over the years.  I am also doing an article about the spiritualist group he inspired, but I feel that I have enough information on that unless the family wishes to share something new.  I am a professional curator and historian.  This is one of my earlier articles.  http://journal.sciencemuseum.ac.uk/browse/issue-04/capturing-the-song-of-the-nightingale/
