Hi

For 1850 you have to go to parish records. If they were catholic, I think the parish is called Oldparish and Ring and they are available from 1813 in the national library in Dublin

Hello jericho,

If the Fitzgerald and McCarthy families were tenants on an estate then they may be mentioned in Estate Records as well as Church Records. Some of these records give
a reasonable amount of information about tenants.

Hi   Christopher

Thanks for your reply, as I have no idea if either of my families were tenants,  I would be interested to find out more, from what I have been told the Fitzgerald's were quiet wealthy at the time of the Fitzgerald /McCarthy marriage, Bridget Fitzgerald married beneath her status to Owen McCarthy who I believe may have been the gardener on their estate, would it be possible to let me know where I can find out more about Estate Records  re what information do they hold and would I be able to obtain all the information on the records,  also where are the records  held  and what kind of costs would I be looking at.

Thanks

jericho

Hello jericho,

There are Estate Records in both the National Archives of Ireland and the National Library of Ireland ... www.ireland.com/ancestor/browse/records/land/estate.htm
