Hi Infobunny
I'm in Adelaide and for 10 years I have been doing research for peopleall over the world who want information about South Australia in the early days.
I saw your request re the Finey family and decided to see if I could find some information for you when I was in the South Australian records.
I have foud a lot of information, but when I typed it up I sent it to you at your email address, so you may already have received it. I didn't realise there was a limit on how many letters one can print in their information, so I am sending it again, and will send what I found in bits:- e.g. part one part two etc. etc. etc.
PART ONE.

BAPTISM
in the 1841 Census in South Australia (the first census taken) the following can be found in the baptismal records:-
Edward Lloyds born 28th August 1938 son of Francis Finey and Maria of Glenelg, baptised in Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide
HOLY TRINITY CHURCH IN ADELAIDE.
In 1841, there was only one church in Adelaide, that being holy Trinity Church which still survives, and is still used in North Terrace, Adelaide.
Because it was the first church in Adelaide, it was the only place people could have their children baptised, or be married, or have a funeral.
