Me again!
The Goddard side might be a bit more difficult as there are several  candidates with variants of Mary Jane, Jane Maria Goddard, Godard etc.   It might be better to wait until you know who her father is.  The fact that she is older than her husband may mean that she is "economical" with the truth re her age.  Do you know how old she was when she died?  There is a Jane Goddard, domestic servant in Brighton in 1891 who is age 22 and born in Cuckfield so that may well be her and in 1881 she is with parents George  and Elizabeth in Broad Street Cuckfield.  I used to live there!    You can look at that on the familysearch site.

Thank you both so very much - Rambler and Sillgen!  This is my first attempt and I really don't have much to go on.  I know that my father's mother passed away when he was 19 years old in Canada but I do not know what her parents names were.  I only new the names of my fathers siblings and they were Stan, Harold, Walter George/George Walter(passed away at a young age) Dorothy and Bernard-my father.  They were all born in Brighton and they all came to Canada when my father was 11 approx. 1924.  I know it isn't much and I am hoping to find more on the family.  Now, there was a cousin Cyril and I believe he had sisters, Eve, Joan, and Hetty.  There could have been more I just don't know.
Sincerely,
Laura

Oh...I forgot to mention that I have the "d" in Simmonds but my father's cousins had dropped the "d" for some reason.  Strange what people do???  Sure makes life somewhat complicated.
Sincerely,
