James H McJannett was born c1823 Narborough in Leicestershire. He may have had siblings.
Does anyone have any info regarding  James's parents?

This is no proof at all but I can see the following McJannett's in Narborough on the 1851 census:
HO107/2081 322 18
Parridise House?

Thos Mac Jannett, head, wid, 63, (something) Chelsea Pensioner, b. Clapham Sury
Gemima, dau, unm, 22, (can't read occupation), b. Leicester Narborough

Hope somebody else can make out the occupations!

The 1861 census has a John McJannet living at Clerkenwell St James with wife Martha. He was born Narborough ca. 1813. Perhaps a brother?

Hi to all

Thank u for all info.  Has anyone managed to find  James's fathers birth? I have not been able to find it. I know that James Hutchins McJannett married Caroline Denby in Clapham. I have information going forward from there but need info going back. Information on Caroline Denby would also be great.

Best Wishes
Karen ;D

Greeting’s again Karen……..

Due to the early dates then you’ll not find a Birth Record
But what you will find is a Christening Record……

But having trawled through over  8,000 Parish records
for Narborough on a disk I have…
I have not found any reference to your James or his Father….Sorry.

The best thing is to order the fiches and have a look at the Parish Registers for Narborough
At your Local family History Centre. Or at :-

Leicestershire & Rutland Record Office.
Long Street.
Wigston Magna.
Leicester.
LE 18 2 AH.

Tel. 0116 257 1080.
Fax. 0116 257 1120.

The only Christening  for a Jannett / Mc Jannett  found for the year 1823 is as follows :-

Christening
George Jannett.
18th. May. 1823.
Narborough.
Father :- Thomas Jannett.
Mother :- Jane Botteril.

Notes column :-
Illegitimate.
Thomas Jannett Reputed Father
Mother :- a Spinster.

So did  James have the same fate ?

MIKE.

Hi

I am reseaching my Hutchins ancestors who hailed from the Narborough area of Leicestershire and am hoping to connect/share with anyone doing the same and/or anyone who can help me.

My interest starts, going backwards, with the marriage of  John McJannett and Mary Hutchins at the Independent, Narborough 10/11/1801.    I am obviously very interested in the McJannetts as well.

They had a number of children including Ann 1802, William 1805, John 1808, Mary 1810, John (again) 1812/3, Jane 1816, Elizabeth 1820 and James Hutchins 1823 all in Narborough.  They were living near Clapham Common in 1841 & 1851 until John died in, I believe 1858..  Mary stayed in the area until her death in, I believe, 1862.

Mary's birth is shown on the censuses as 1782/3 Whetstone.    The most likely of the IGI records listed  is the birth 2/12/1782 with christening 9/12/1782 at the Independent Narborough parents Jno. & Elisabeth.    I think the alternative chr 17/4/1781 in Willoughby Waterless parents John & Hannah to be less likely.

Probable siblings are Elizabeth b 1/4/1777 & John b 12/2/1771.    The parents seem almost certainly to be John Hutchins and Elizabeth (Groocock) who married 11/10/1770 in Narborough.

It would appear that John Hutchings was christened 2/6/1745 Narborough to parents George & Jane.    Siblings are probably Elizabeth 1729, Jane 1734, Thomas 1736, Anne 1739, William 1742 and George 1748 - all Narborough.   The parents look certain to be George Hutchins and  Jane (Taylor) who married 26/12/1728 at Narborough.

Unfortunately I could not then spot a potential birth for George other than the one in Harrold some 35 miles to the south east.

Cany anyone help please?

Thanks

Mick
