Hi All,

Have just noticed this post - don't ask me where I have been.

June I could do a lookup on Marion Button's - Argus Index for you - probably Monday at the earliest.

Cheers..

June,
I checked Marion Button's - Argus Index for your Ebenezer Laker's arrival in Australia - unfortunately I could not find him listed.

I did find a group of Lakers' arriving on the Candahar from Plymouth to Adelaide. Departed December 2 1851, arrived August 8 1851.
They were - B K J Laker - H Laker - J Laker - Maria Laker - Mary Ann Laker.

Also - Master C Laker - Marchioness Salisbury - from Geelong to Callao - departed April 4 1855 - no date of arrival.
Master Charles Laker - Marchioness Salisbury - from Plymouth to Geelong - no departure date -  arrived February 21 1855.

I checked the BAKER E aged 21, arrived 1853 on the James Boget - it is definitely BAKER - he was Irish.
Sarra :(

Robyn:  Yes, Josiah LAKER is mine and I have details of his life in the goldfields.  After the death of his two wives and three of his children he returned to England.  The child that remained died in 1951 in Melbourne - did not marry and had no issue.

The Alfred LAKER that you found is not (as far as I can tell) mine. Thank you for mentioning him.

Cando:  I think I have found all of my CHARLWOODs on the Unassisted Index, but will have another go to see if I have missed anyone.

Sarra:  thanks very much for checking the Marion Button's Argus Index.  I cannot identify any of the LAKERs you mention.  wish I could.  Too bad Mr. BAKER turned out not to be a LAKER.

Judb:  Thank you for reminding me about the wills.  I had found a couple before Xmas so will go back and look for more.

Have to let the reindeer out of the pen now and chop some wood, so thank you all very, very much.
