Hello Amanda,  Would you like your grandmothers christening? The marriages and christenings are on the same reel. is your grandmother Mary Ann McGill born Dec. qtr 1896 Stockton?

Wow that would be wonderful Sheila.  ;D ;D ;D

I have two dates for her, the GRO index you have referred to and 27th August 1895. I am unsure which year she was born, there are two references but only one Mary Ann McGill, the Christening would sort that issue out too!
There were two other children born to that marriage: James McGill born Dec quarter 1894 who died three months later and buried in the children's public grave in Oxbridge Lane Cemetery and Catherine Josephine McGill born June 1899. It would be fantastic to know who were the godparents. James McGill the father died a few months later in October 1899....such tragedy in a few years.

Thank you so much.
Amanda :)

Morning Sheila

You are a star, thank you very much for your help you have filled in a couple of gaps in my "family tree".

My dad lived at number 66 Headlam Street, so looks like the Betts family were their neighbours. So thanks for that piece of information.
God parents to Maria Betts that is interesting James and Julia Larkin, I will have to do a little bit of digging there.

Didn't know my aunt Teresa's exact date of birth, so thanks for that.

Strange that my other aunt Madge (Margaret) Larkin wasn't recorded.

I really look forward to hearing about Carlisle Memorial School, fingers crossed you are able to find my dad on their school records.

Interesting that dad and his sister were back in Jarrow in 1926. I understood that you made your Communion in the place where you attended school.

Thanks again Sheila hope you have a good day.

regards
malshie

Hello Malshie,  Sorry I could'nt find anything for your father at Carlisle memorial school, also had a second look for Margaret Larkins christening nothing at all, It seems funny not to have christened the eldest daughter. The records for St.Mary's school did'nt start un till 1946, so no help at all. They had records for Tilery School from  right dates for your family, do you think they may have gone to this school? it would have been just around the corner from where they lived,  if you think their is any possibilty they might have attended Tilery School, I will have a look next time i go to the Archives. If there is anything else I can help you with please let me know.

Hello Amanda,  Sorry I could not find anything on your family in the St.Mary's records, no marriage or christenings for the children, I looked for the death of James Mcgill in the St.Mary's records, but he appears not to have had a catholic burial.  if you would like me to search further do send me some details of this family, 1901 census and info from any ceritiicates you may have.

Hello Sheila

Thank you so much for looking at the Carlisle Memorial school records for me. Well that is a mystery, no sign of him being at that school. I really thought I had, well you had, solved the puzzle for me.

If it's alright with you Sheila could I take you up on your kind offer to look at Tillery School records for me.

No record of my aunts Baptism record either. I suppose she could of been baptised back in Jarrow, St. Bedes.

The school seems more of a mystery to me, they must of been schooled, somewhere, but where!

Have a good weekend
Thanks again for your help

Best Wishes
malshie
