This is very remiss of me not to have responded to quite a lively conversation going on here, on a thread I started over 6 years ago...
I have had a very good look for the notes that I made when I visited the Norfolk Record office then, but have completely mislaid them. I had the feeling that there were two DUFFIELD families producing children at the end of the 18thC, beginning of the 19thC, but only focussed on my own: namely, Francis and Susannah's children Amy, baptised 1780; James 1782, but died 1783; another James 1784; William 1786; Robert 1788; Samuel 1791; and my gt-gt-gt-grandma Mary Ann 1796.
I see now that Sue seems to have discovered that elusive baptism for George, for Susannah DUFFIELD - that sounds a very good fit!

N.B. And Olleyke - is there a date for that Robert DUFFIELD headstone, as I suppose it might just be for the person in my tree who was born in 1788...
Little did I know back in the summer of 1970, when I used to sit in the churchyard at Taverham during my lunchhours when I was doing my first teaching practice at the nearby Primary School, that my direct ancestor Mary Ann DUFFIELD had been baptised, then married in this church with its handsome flintwork, all those years ago...
