Help with Royal Engineer WWI
« on: Tuesday 03 January 06 06:06 GMT (UK) »
Hello!

I have very little information on my ancestor Alexander Moore. He was born in Surrey in 1895. He was with his family in 1901 and then I have a Christmas postcard from the Royal Engineers, Portsmouth saying he was home for the holidays. That must have been mailed in an envelope as it has no date etc.

I have no idea where to begin trying to locate him as his name is common. Can someone suggest what my next move might be? I am in the US which is making it very difficult!

Many thanks for any help! Happy New Year!

Hi Mack,

Well that IS some help! You narrowed it down to eight candidates, that's a far cry better than I had before!

So what would you suggest now. Would my next move to find these eight at the NA?

I'm in the U.S., are there any online resources for sorting them out?

Thanks again for your kind help!
