Not sure on Scotland available data.
I am looking for John Sheldrake bn circa 1840 Scotland and his sister Jane Sheldrake bn circa 1842 Scotland. Father was George Sheldrake born Suffolk circa 1800. Mother was Christiana unknown bn circa 1815 Edinburgh. Guess they got married in Scotland.
Further info next sister was born in France 1846, perhaps George was in the army ??
By 1851 in Welwyn England, George a railway worker.

Hi Nigels, I had a quick glance at IGI and no luck, and Scotlandīs People gave two Sheldrake marriages, both before 1700, and two births before 1600, so it doesnīt look very promising - sure they married in Scotland?
All the best,
Thrall

Hi Nigels, a bit like the parsonīs egg at present, with some coverage on Freecen and on some local sites, but complete 1841 census should be online at SP in a few monthīs time - fingers crossed.
Good hunting,
Thrall

I found a Sheldrake marriage for 1839 in the OPR index on Scotland's People - looks like yours: George Joshua Sheldrake and Christina Stewart married in Glasgow. You'd need to order the extract from the GROS though.

Hi Nigel, sorry if I missed that OPR marriage and it put you back; not sure what went wrong there.
Hi ciorstag72, congratulations. Not helpful of me telling people BMDs donīt exist when they do.
Good hunting,
Thrall
Edit. Now I see it staring me in the face.

Hi nigels,
As the marriage was pre-statutory registration, the best you'll probably get is the 'Proclamation of Banns' containing the names of the bride and groom and a note of their parishes. On a rare occasion, you might get a wee drop more info.
On the other hand, if it had been after 1855, the information on the certificates has the couple's names, their ages, names of both sets of parents, the date of their parent's marriage, names of witnesses, and sometimes the place of marriage and the name of the minister who married them.
All the info is available at:
